111 Indian Legislators Switched Parties Since 2022: ADR Report

A study by Association for Democratic Reforms reveals 111 sitting MPs and MLAs changed political parties after being elected since 2022. The defections include 26 Lok Sabha members, 7 Rajya Sabha members, and 78 state legislators. Nagaland recorded the highest switches (32), followed by West Bengal (20). The NDPP, Trinamool and Congress accounted for 58% of defectors, while NPF received most switchers (29). The report links some state government collapses to these defections.
