Terms of Use
These terms govern your use of BharatBriefly (the "Service"), a news application that publishes short, AI-written briefs of news reported by other publishers. By using the Service you agree to them.
1. What BharatBriefly is
BharatBriefly reads publicly available news feeds and uses automated systems, including large language models, to produce a short headline and summary for each story, together with a note on why it matters. Each brief names the publication it is based on and links onward to it.
2. Accuracy, and its limits
The briefs are generated automatically and are not reviewed by a journalist before publication. Automated summarisation can misstate, omit or over-simplify facts, and the source article may itself be wrong or later corrected.
- Treat every brief as a pointer to the original reporting, not a substitute for it.
- Verify anything you intend to rely on against the linked source.
- Nothing on the Service is legal, medical, financial or investment advice.
If you find an error, please tell us at info@bharatbriefly.news and we will correct or remove it.
3. Acceptable use
You may read, share and link to anything on the Service. You may not:
- scrape or bulk-copy the Service to build a competing product;
- attempt to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorised access to it;
- present our output as your own original reporting.
4. Intellectual property and fair dealing
The BharatBriefly name, design and software are ours. Headlines, facts and quotations originate with the publications we credit and remain theirs.
We report current events. Every brief on this site is a short, original summary written from publicly available reporting, published alongside the name of the outlet that carried it and a link to the original article. We do not republish articles in full, we do not reproduce photographs or video from the outlets we cite, and we do not claim ownership of any underlying work. Facts themselves are not copyrightable; the words we wrap them in are our own.
This is how we understand our position under Indian law. Section 52 of the Copyright Act, 1957 sets out uses that do not infringe copyright, and the one we rely on is Section 52(1)(a)(iii) — fair dealing with a work for the purpose of reporting current events and current affairs. That clause expressly covers storing the work electronically for that purpose. Where our systems hold material only in passing while transmitting it, Section 52(1)(b), which covers transient and incidental storage in the technical process of electronic transmission, applies as well.
Fair dealing is a limit, not a licence, and we treat it as one: we summarise rather than reproduce, we always name and link the source, we quote sparingly and only where the wording matters, and we take a story down on request.
If you are a publisher and object to how your work appears here — or want a brief corrected, credited differently, or removed — write to info@bharatbriefly.news. We act on these promptly and we do not require a formal notice to do so.
5. Availability
The Service is provided "as is" and may change, break or be withdrawn at any time. We do not guarantee uninterrupted availability.
6. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from reliance on a brief, from an inaccuracy in a summary, or from the Service being unavailable. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
7. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have exclusive jurisdiction.
8. Changes
We may update these terms; the date above always reflects the current version. Continuing to use the Service means you accept the update.
