A police squad from Malappuram, Kerala, seized 12.8 kg of MDMA valued at more than ₹10 crore from an Innova car near Coimbatore on August 29, 2026. Three men from Malappuram and Wayanad — Jabir Ali (32), Mohammed Salih (34), and Shaim Akbar (21) — were arrested in the operation led by District Police Chief Chaitra Teresa John. The drugs were concealed in the door panels of the vehicle and packed in quantities ranging from 100 to 500 grams for delivery between Thiruvananthapuram and Kasaragod. Investigators said the network sourced and stored large quantities of MDMA in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru before routing them to Kerala and Tamil Nadu through transit points including Coimbatore, Palani, and Kodaikanal. District Police Chief John called the seizure one of the biggest drug hauls in the state in recent memory.
