12 Die in Madhya Pradesh After Consuming Spurious Liquor Linked to UP Gang

Twelve people died and many others were hospitalised after consuming illicit alcohol in Sagar district, Madhya Pradesh, on Saturday night. Police identified the beverage as a spurious country liquor that a gang from Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh, had supplied to the area. Victims were mainly from Nauraj and Gogra villages under the Banda police station. Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda confirmed 12 deaths and said three excise department officials were suspended for negligence, while the deputy excise commissioner was placed under investigation. Authorities are tracing the supply chain and will examine the involved liquor licence holder for possible legal action.
