A total of 2,07,93,916 voters in Maharashtra could be left out of the draft electoral roll scheduled for publication on August 24 because their enumeration forms went uncollected. The uncollected forms account for 21.25 per cent of the state's 9.79 crore electorate following the house-to-house enumeration exercise under the Special Intensive Revision that concluded at 5 pm on Monday. The problem is heavily concentrated in major urban areas, with Thane, Mumbai City, Mumbai Suburban, and Pune accounting for 94.47 lakh uncollected forms or 45.4 per cent of the state total. Election authorities stressed that being omitted from the draft roll is not a permanent deletion from the electoral register. Voters whose names are missing will have a one-month window from August 24 to September 23 to submit claims for inclusion or correction before the final roll is published on October 27.
