253 Detained Across 14 States in Crackdown on Shahzad Bhatti Network

Security agencies launched a nationwide crackdown on August 12 targeting the alleged Pakistan-based, ISI-backed Shahzad Bhatti Network, detaining 253 people across 14 states. Operations in states including Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, and Punjab led to the recovery of IEDs, grenades bearing Pakistan Ordnance Factory markings, pistols, and CCTV cameras. Union Home Minister Amit Shah stated that the action thwarted subversive plans ahead of Independence Day. The MHA spokesperson confirmed that the operation was coordinated through real-time intelligence-sharing, resulting in fresh FIRs in Delhi and Karnataka. More than 80 FIRs and over 200 arrests have been recorded under laws including the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and the Explosive Substances Act.
