32 Canadians Unaccounted For After Flash Floods Hit Nepal and Tibet

Canada's Foreign Minister Anita Anand announced that 32 Canadian citizens and permanent residents are unaccounted for following catastrophic flash floods in Nepal and Tibet. Several of the missing individuals are Indo-Canadians who were on a pilgrimage to Mount Kailash and Mansarovar Lake. Global Affairs Canada has deployed five consular officials to Kathmandu to work with local authorities and tour operators. The disaster has left nearly 600 dead and approximately 2,500 missing across the impacted regions. Canada has committed CA$5 million in urgent humanitarian assistance to fund emergency food, shelter, and medical services.
