828 CCTV Cameras Non-Functional At Police Stations And Outposts In Odisha

A total of 828 CCTV cameras installed across police stations and outposts in Odisha have been found non-functional, prompting the state police to seek immediate funds for repairs. According to a report by Krystal Integrated Services Private Limited submitted to the Odisha Home Secretary, 795 station cameras and 33 outpost cameras are currently offline. The state police have requested the Odisha Computer Application Centre to restore continuous monitoring as mandated by Supreme Court directives. The Orissa High Court previously expressed strict concern over missing surveillance following the alleged custodial abuse of an army officer and his fiancée at the Bharatpur police station in Bhubaneswar in 2024. The police letter also noted that a budgetary amount of Rs 76 crore was surrendered for surveillance systems in the 2025-26 financial year.
