AAP And Goa Forward Party To Form Alliance For Upcoming Assembly Polls
· India · Indian Express, Times of India, News18
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Goa Forward Party (GFP) are set to announce a formal alliance for the upcoming Goa Assembly elections. The coalition, to be named the 'Goa First Alliance', excludes the Congress party, which AAP and GFP leaders accuse of stalling negotiations for a broader opposition front. While AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal is expected to make the official announcement on Sunday, posters targeting both the BJP and Congress have already appeared in the state. The GFP, led by MLA Vijai Sardesai, previously allied with the Congress in the 2022 elections.
Why it matters
This alliance signals a significant shift in Goa's opposition landscape, potentially splitting the anti-BJP vote and complicating the electoral strategy for the Congress party.
