AAP donations drop 68% to ₹12 crore in 2025-26, BJD declares zero contributions after Odisha exit
· India · Indian Express, Times of India, Hindustan Times
The Aam Aadmi Party reported a 68% decline in donations to ₹12.09 crore for 2025-26, down from ₹38.10 crore the previous year, with the Prudent Electoral Trust and Trident Limited contributing ₹5 crore each. The Biju Janata Dal declared zero contributions in its first year out of power in Odisha after over two decades, down from ₹60 crore in 2024-25 when Vedanta Ltd was the top donor with ₹25 crore. Of the AAP's total, two donors accounted for nearly all contributions, while the remainder came from individuals and smaller entities like Jain Siddiqui and Associates and Brilliant Study Centre. The report notes parties are only required to disclose donations above ₹20,000, so total amounts may be higher.
Why it matters
The sharp fall in AAP's donor base and BJD's complete contribution drop reflect changing political funding dynamics as both parties navigate reduced financial support outside their previous strongholds.
