· India · The Tribune, The Hindu, India Today
The Aam Aadmi Party released its first list of 100 nominees for the 2027 Punjab Assembly elections on Wednesday. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will contest from the Dhuri constituency. The party also announced it will field candidates against sitting MPs Amarinder Singh Raja Warring and Gurjeet Singh Meet Hayer. AAP sources indicate a second list will follow in coming weeks as the party finalises its full slate.
Why it matters
The nomination list marks AAP's formal launch of its 2027 Punjab election campaign, setting the stage for a direct contest with the Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal in the state's 117-member assembly. It signals the party's strategy to retain power by consolidating its grassroots base and expanding its reach across key constituencies.
