Aavin Increases Milk and Ghee Prices Ahead of Diwali
· India · LiveMint, NDTV
Tamil Nadu's state-owned dairy cooperative, Aavin, has announced a price hike for milk-based products including ghee, butter, curd, and sweets, effective October 28. A 100-ml pack of ghee will now cost ₹95, up from ₹80, while 100 grams of butter will increase to ₹70. This marks the first revision under Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay's government, which cited rising raw material and procurement costs. CM Vijay recently increased milk procurement prices to ₹44 per litre to support dairy farmers, requiring an annual expenditure of ₹720 crore.
Why it matters
