Abhijeet Dipke Compares Opposition Election Participation To Fixed Match
· India · Hindustan Times, The Hindu
Cockroach Janta Party founder Abhijeet Dipke has urged Opposition parties to boycott elections if they genuinely believe the voting process is rigged. Comparing participation in flawed elections to a fixed cricket match, Dipke argued that continuing to contest gives legitimacy to a compromised system. His remarks came a day after his party demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar and threatened nationwide protests. Dipke questioned why Opposition parties continue to participate when their MLAs are poached and parties split. Meanwhile, Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi has also demanded the CEC's resignation over allegations of vote manipulation.
Why it matters
