Abhishek Banerjee Challenges Freezing of Bank Account in Calcutta High Court

Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee has moved the Calcutta High Court to challenge the freezing of his personal bank account by a private bank. His legal counsel, Ayan Bhattacharjee, argued that the bank failed to follow proper procedures in the action. Banerjee, who is currently facing multiple investigations, sought an urgent hearing as he plans to travel abroad for medical treatment. The Supreme Court recently granted the Diamond Harbour MP permission to travel overseas for three weeks for eye surgery. Justice Krishna Rao has scheduled the matter for a hearing on Wednesday.
