ABVP seeks cancellation of Umar Khalid documentary screening at NLSIU

The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) has formally requested the administration of the National Law School of India University (NLSIU) in Bengaluru to cancel a planned screening of a documentary about activist Umar Khalid. The film, titled 'Prisoner No. 626710 is Present' and directed by Lalit Vachani, was scheduled for screening on September 14. ABVP leaders alleged that Khalid's public life is linked to controversial protests and civil unrest, arguing that university campuses should focus on national integrity rather than political propaganda. Separately, advocate Girish Bharadwaj has also written to the university's Vice-Chancellor and Registrar, urging them to reconsider the event. The university administration has not publicly responded to these requests.
