· Business · Economic Times, Indian Express
Adani Airport Holdings Limited (AAHL) has secured a $1 billion investment from a consortium including Temasek, BlackRock, Alpha Wave Global, and Premji Invest, raising Rs 9,825 crore. The deal values AAHL at a pre-money equity valuation of $18 billion, marking one of the largest financial institution investments in India’s airport infrastructure. The funds will be deployed to modernize airport infrastructure to handle up to 200 million passengers annually, expand city-side real estate projects (including 22 million sq ft of mixed-use development), and scale ground handling and non-aeronautical operations. The investment is structured across three tranches, with the final tranche closing by July 2027, granting the consortium a collective 5.54% stake. Jeet Adani highlighted the partnership as a milestone for building India’s leading integrated airport platform, emphasizing the sector’s role in driving GDP growth through trade, tourism, and regional development.
Why it matters
This infusion of capital will accelerate India’s aviation expansion, directly benefiting passengers, airlines, and regional economies by improving connectivity and infrastructure.
