Adani Defence, Indo-Russian Rifles Sign AK-203 Ammunition Pact

Adani Defence and Aerospace has signed a five-year agreement with Indo-Russian Rifles Pvt Ltd to supply indigenously produced 7.62x39 mm ammunition for AK-203 assault rifles. The deal creates an integrated domestic supply chain for the India-Russia rifle programme, pairing locally produced rifles at the Korwa facility in Uttar Pradesh's Amethi district with domestically manufactured ammunition from Kanpur. Indo-Russian Rifles was established in 2019 under an intergovernmental agreement between India and Russia to manufacture 6,01,427 AK-203 rifles for the Indian Armed Forces. The joint venture brings together Indian shareholders Advanced Weapons and Equipment India Ltd and Munitions India Ltd alongside Russian counterparts Concern Kalashnikov and Rosoboronexport. The latest agreement strengthens domestic small-arms capabilities and supports the government's Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative by reducing reliance on external sources for a key consumable weapon component.
