Adani Group Settles SEBI Disclosure Probe Linked to Hindenburg Allegations

Adani Group firms have settled a Securities and Exchange Board of India investigation into disclosure norms violations stemming from the 2023 Hindenburg Research report. The conglomerate paid Rs 50 crore across multiple entities to close the probe without admitting or denying the findings. SEBI had examined whether the group properly disclosed related-party transactions and shareholding patterns in its listed companies. The settlement covers Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports, Adani Green Energy and three other listed firms. This removes one of several regulatory overhangs that have weighed on the group since the US short-seller's allegations.

The settlement reduces legal uncertainty for Adani Group's listed companies and may ease pressure on their share prices, while leaving other SEBI and Supreme Court-mandated probes still open.
