Aditya Thackeray named in Disha Salian case: What father told CBI in statement
· India · LiveMint, Times of India, Zee News
Satish Salian recorded his statement at the CBI office in Mumbai on Friday, naming Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aditya Thackeray, Dino Morea, Sooraj Pancholi, and others in connection with his daughter Disha Salian's death. Disha Salian died on June 8, 2020, after falling from the 14th floor of a residential building in Mumbai's Malavani area. The development follows a September 2, 2026, Bombay High Court order directing the CBI to register an FIR and record her father's statement after he raised doubts about the circumstances of her death. During earlier hearings, a Division Bench of Justice Bharti Dangre and Justice Manjusha Deshpande questioned why police had only registered an Accidental Death Report rather than an FIR despite family allegations of murder. Satish Salian stated that he provided a comprehensive account of the events to investigators and expressed confidence that formal proceedings would begin in a few days.
Why it matters
The CBI investigation ordered by the Bombay High Court brings renewed scrutiny to a high-profile 2020 death involving prominent political and entertainment figures in Mumbai.
