AI Gains Show Up in S&P 500 Earnings, Says Morgan Stanley
· Technology · Bloomberg, CNBC
Morgan Stanley's US thematic research head Michelle Weaver says AI adoption is moving from experimentation into measurable production gains across corporate America. About 25% of S&P 500 companies are now quantifying benefits from AI, up from 14% a year earlier. AI adopters are also posting relative forward margin expansion, Weaver noted. The shift marks the first clear evidence of AI lifting the underlying fundamentals of large US companies, not just narrative. The interview aired on Aug. 27, 2026.
Why it matters
This matters for Indian IT services and product companies such as TCS, Infosys, and Wipro, whose global clients are now proving out AI budgets and could accelerate spending on AI engineering, copilots, and data infrastructure. If one in four S&P 500 firms is already quantifying AI gains, the demand pipeline for India's AI talent and GCCs will tighten further.
