Air India Frankfurt-Delhi Flight Diverted to Jaipur in False Hijack Scare
· India · Times of India, Zee News, Firstpost
An Air India Boeing 787 operating flight AI 2030 from Frankfurt to Delhi was diverted to Jaipur after a false hijack alert was triggered on Wednesday. The flight carried 306 people on board who faced hours of waiting before resuming their journey. Aviation and security agencies have launched a probe into why the Mumbai air traffic control radar system conveyed the false emergency message. Senior pilots noted that the emergency squawk code 7500 requires deliberate manual entry, making an accidental activation highly unlikely. Officials confirmed that the aircraft landed in Jaipur around 11 am and underwent a thorough security clearance before departing for Delhi at 2:30 pm with the same crew.
Why it matters
Passengers and crew faced hours of unscheduled delays and security checks, while aviation authorities are left investigating vulnerabilities in newly installed air traffic control systems.
