Ajit Doval to Visit Beijing for Boundary Talks with Wang Yi

National Security Advisor Ajit Doval is scheduled to arrive in Beijing on August 24 for the 25th round of Special Representatives talks on the India-China boundary issue. He will meet his Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, on August 25 to discuss the 3,488 km border dispute. The meeting occurs as both nations prepare for the potential visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to New Delhi for the BRICS summit in September. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has stated that peace along the border remains a prerequisite for normal bilateral relations. The talks follow recent reports of Chinese military posturing in the Upper Subansiri region of Arunachal Pradesh.
