Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav met jailed party leader Azam Khan at Rampur district jail on Thursday to discuss electoral strategy for the upcoming 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. Yadav accused the BJP government of political vendetta and lodging false cases against Khan and his family. The SP chief stated that he had reviewed all 403 assembly constituencies with Khan alongside feedback from alliance partners. Khan and his son Abdullah Azam Khan were sentenced to seven years in prison in November 2025 over dual PAN card cases. Yadav also criticized the BJP over the Mohammad Ali Jauhar University, alleging a conspiracy to undermine the institution.
