Akshaye Khanna Almost Turned Down Villain Role in Dhurandhar
· Entertainment · Indian Express, Times of India
Casting director Mukesh Chhabra revealed that Akshaye Khanna initially questioned the decision to cast him as the villain Rehman Dakait in Aditya Dhar's blockbuster film Dhurandhar. Appearing on Shekhar Suman's show Shekhar Tonite, Chhabra stated that two or three other major stars had previously turned down the role due to calculations regarding an ensemble cast and the director's hiatus since Uri. After hearing the script for five minutes, Khanna agreed to take on the part on the same day. Chhabra praised the actor's performance and commended lead actor Ranveer Singh for supporting the project despite the antagonist receiving prominent promotion in the second half. The film has since achieved box-office success following its theatrical release.
