All Agniveers to Get Permanent Military Jobs
· India · Indian Express, India Today
The Union Cabinet has approved a decision to allow all Agniveers to become regular soldiers in the Armed Forces. After completing their four-year tenure, the 75 percent not absorbed initially will be offered a two-year engagement period with enhanced pay and benefits. The first batch from the Indian Navy completes their tenure this month, and the decision follows a review of Agniveers' performance over four years. Chief of Defence Staff Gen Raja Subramani said this will help maintain a youthful and experienced military profile.
Why it matters
This change gives every Agniveer a clear pathway to permanent military service, directly impacting the 75 percent previously excluded from retention under the original scheme.
