Justices J J Munir and Tarun Saxena stated that the existing rules, which rely on 19th-century methods like physical picketing, are ill-suited for tracking modern criminals. The court suggested that the state update its protocols to incorporate contemporary technology, such as CCTV surveillance, to combat evolving crimes like cyber fraud. The bench observed that while traditional offences like cattle poisoning are less relevant today, digital criminals now pose a significant threat to financial security.
