Allahabad High Court Warns Against Forcing Santa Claus Caps on Employees

The Allahabad High Court ruled that compelling employees to wear Santa Claus red caps hurts religious sentiments and is not permitted in India's democratic system. Justice Saurabh Srivastava made the observation while hearing a plea by Vikram Singh alias Vishwa Vikram Singh to quash criminal proceedings from a 2022 case. The case originated from an FIR registered at Sadar Bazar police station in Agra under sections for hurting religious sentiments and intentional insult. After investigation, a charge sheet was filed on September 20, 2023, and a summoning order was passed by the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Agra, on December 21, 2023. The court warned the superior authorities of 'V Bazar' not to repeat such instructions that disturb workplace harmony.
