Amarinder Singh Expresses Disappointment Over Not Being Consulted on Punjab Politics
· India · Times of India, The Hindu
Former Punjab chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh has expressed displeasure over not being consulted by the BJP on matters concerning Punjab's political direction. Speaking in New Delhi, Singh stated that leaders with decades of experience in the state were ignored despite their deep local knowledge. The veteran politician, who has spent 60 years in public life, clarified that his remarks do not signal an exit from the BJP or a return to the Congress. In response, Punjab Aam Aadmi Party general secretary Baltej Singh Pannu labeled Singh opportunistic and questioned his record during his two terms as chief minister.
Why it matters
The friction highlights internal challenges within the BJP's Punjab unit as established leaders voice frustration over decision-making structures, potentially impacting the party's regional strategy.
