Amazon Redesigns Kindle Lineup With Bezel-Free Flush Front Displays
· Technology · TechCrunch, t2ONLINE
Amazon has executed a major physical redesign of its Kindle e-reader lineup by eliminating raised bezels in favor of flush-front displays. To prevent accidental page turns from resting fingers, Amazon utilizes capacitive touch technology and haptics to create a dynamic dead zone where grips are detected. The standard 6-inch model measures 6.8 millimeters thick, weighs 140 grams, and features page turns that are 30% faster than the previous generation. The refreshed lineup includes new color options such as Ube, Alpine Sky, and Seaglass Green, alongside aluminum-backed storage variants. The devices span across standard, Paperwhite, and Colorsoft editions with varying storage capacities and price points.
Why it matters
