Amazon is ending its budget Fire tablet lineup to introduce the new aluminum-built Alexa Tablet series running official Android with full Google Play Store access. The new lineup includes the Alexa Tablet 12 Pro priced at $500, the Alexa Tablet 11 at $330, and the Alexa Tablet 8 at $230, alongside dedicated kids' editions with protective bumper cases. Amazon plans to stop shipping Fire tablets within the next month or two while providing software support for four years from their last ship date. The new Alexa tablets launch with Android 16 and are scheduled to receive Android 17 early in 2027. Preorders are open now, with official shipping set to begin on October 14.
