Amit Shah to Review Delhi Law and Order at Police HQ Today

· India · Indian Express, Times of India, Hindustan Times

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is expected to visit the Delhi Police headquarters on Saturday around 3 pm to review the Capital's law and order situation, his first such visit since August 2022. The meeting will focus on the fallout from the July violence during the Cockroach Janta Party's 'Sansad Chalo' march, including the police response and allegations of excessive force. Senior officers will brief Shah on measures taken to prevent similar confrontations, as well as progress on government priority areas such as the crackdown on drug trafficking, action against gangsters operating from abroad and their local associates, and crimes against women. Sources said the review will cover enforcement against drug supply networks and steps to dismantle distribution chains in Delhi.

Why it matters

The review will shape policing priorities for the national capital, directly affecting public safety, the handling of protests, and the pace of investigations into organised crime and drug networks.
