Se-young completed a flawless tournament without dropping a single game despite entering the competition recovering from a left foot injury sustained at the July Japan Open. In the semifinal against Wang Zhiyi, the Korean player battled severe physical exhaustion and pain before securing a 24-22, 21-16 victory. Less than 24 hours later, she faced Yamaguchi, a three-time world champion seeking a record fourth gold medal. Se-young successfully defended her top ranking to claim her second world title.
