National record holder Ancy Sojan clinched the silver medal in the women's long jump final at the Asian Games in Nagoya with a best effort of 6.53 metres. Ancy held the gold medal position through most of the event until the final round of jumps. China's Huang Y secured the gold with a jump of 6.55 metres on her sixth attempt, while compatriot Mengyi Tan claimed bronze with a 6.46-metre leap. The late surge by the Chinese athletes ended India's hopes of securing a double podium finish in the event. Shaili Singh, the other Indian finalist, finished fourth after recording a consistent series of legal jumps peaking at 6.42 metres.
