A man named Yella Rajesh was abducted, beaten, and tied to a scooter before being dragged along a road in Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram district over a Rs 30,000 payment dispute. The assault occurred after Rajesh failed to repay Rs 30,000—Rs 25,000 for a motorcycle and Rs 5,000 towards repair costs—following a collision during a test ride. Five accused, including mechanic V Mahesh and his associates, were arrested after a viral video of the assault led police to register cases under kidnapping, attempt to murder, and provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. The victim was confined overnight before the brutal assault on September 6. The accused were expected to be produced in court on the same day.
