Junior doctors, senior residents, and interns across government teaching hospitals in Andhra Pradesh continued their strike on Sunday, marking the seventh consecutive day without emergency services. The protesting doctors are demanding stipend revisions and are participating in rallies and relay hunger strikes at institutions including Siddhartha Medical College in Vijayawada and King George Hospital in Visakhapatnam. The Indian Medical Association, the A.P. Government Doctors’ Association, and Praja Arogya Vedika have backed the demands, calling them genuine while expressing concern over heavy patient loads and disrupted healthcare delivery. PAV leaders urged the State government to initiate meaningful dialogue with striking doctors to reach an amicable resolution.
