Andhra Pradesh Raises Upper Age Limit for Government Jobs to 44
· India · Hindustan Times, The Hindu
The Andhra Pradesh government has increased the upper age limit for direct recruitment to various non-uniformed government posts from 34 to 44 years. Issued by chief secretary G Sai Prasad, the relaxation will remain in force for recruitments notified up to September 30, 2027. Simultaneously, the APPSC released notifications to fill 892 vacancies, including 163 Group-I category posts. The policy shift followed representations from legislators and requests made through IT minister Nara Lokesh and deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan citing limited recruitment opportunities over past years. A separate order extended similar age enhancements to uniformed services such as police personnel.
Why it matters
The decision opens up public sector employment opportunities for thousands of older aspirants in Andhra Pradesh who missed out due to years of sparse recruitment.
