Students at Andhra University in Visakhapatnam staged a protest on Wednesday over severe infrastructure deficiencies, including water seepage, poor street lighting, and damaged internal roads. Led by the Students Federation of India, protesters highlighted that heavy rain caused ceiling plaster to fall in several rooms of the Satavahana Hostel. Student representatives also questioned the annual collection of a ₹5,500 hostel development fee, alleging funds were diverted to pay daily-wage workers. Vice-Chancellor G.P. Raja Sekhar met the student delegation and assured them that modernization work would begin in a phased manner during the Dasara vacation.
