Anmol Kharb Stuns World No 12 Line Christophersen at Hylo Open
· Sports · Indian Express, Sportstar
Indian teenager Anmol Kharb secured the biggest win of her career by defeating Danish World No 12 Line Christophersen at the Super 500 Hylo Open in Saarbrucken, Germany. The 19-year-old shuttler staged a remarkable comeback after losing the first set, saving three match points in a grueling decider to win 11-21, 21-18, 25-23. Christophersen contributed to her own downfall by ceding a high percentage of points through unforced errors under pressure from Anmol's pace. The victory follows a period where Anmol balanced competitive play with prioritizing her academic commitments. Anmol will face Unnati Hooda in the quarter-finals.
Why it matters
This breakthrough victory marks a major milestone for the young Indian shuttler's return to top-flight international competition and sets up an all-Indian quarter-final clash at a Super 500 tournament.
