The inquiry committee investigating recent clashes at Kolkata's Jadavpur University lost another member on Tuesday with the resignation of Arunasis Goswami, vice-chancellor of Babasaheb Ambedkar Education University. Goswami stated in an email that he could not serve due to administrative responsibilities at his home university. His departure follows the resignation of committee chairman Shubha Shankar Sarkar after objections from an RSS-affiliated teachers' organisation. Meanwhile, police visited the campus in Kolkata to meet the acting registrar and sought CCTV footage covering the period around the August 19 clashes between ABVP and SFI activists. Retired Calcutta High Court judge Pranab Kumar Chatterjee was previously appointed as the new head of the inquiry panel.
