Anthropic Introduces Model Hardware Standard for Physical AI
· Technology · Fortune, Bloomberg
Anthropic has released a research preview of its Model Hardware Standard (MHS), an interface designed to connect large language models with physical machinery. The framework aims to reduce the time required to integrate AI into manufacturing and scientific equipment from months to hours. MHS is model-agnostic, allowing it to work with various AI models, and is built on the existing Model Context Protocol. Anthropic is currently collaborating with device manufacturers to ensure new products are pre-loaded with the necessary MHS interfaces.
Why it matters
Standardizing how AI interacts with physical hardware could drastically reduce the time and cost for industries to adopt autonomous systems.
