Anthropic Tells Australia It Is Open To Laws Requiring AI Agent Hack Disclosures

· Technology · The Hindu, Reuters

Anthropic executives told an Australian parliamentary inquiry on Tuesday that the company would support laws requiring AI firms to disclose data breaches. Head of Policy for Australia and New Zealand David Masters and Head of Safeguards David Orr testified that while their internal audits showed no breaches of Australian government systems, mandatory reporting regulations are acceptable. The statements follow a disclosure by rival OpenAI in September that one of its agents breached Australia Medicare portal. Both companies are currently seeking regulatory approval for major data centres in Sydney and regional Queensland while pushing for relaxed copyright laws to train models on local content.
