Both offerings share the same underlying model architecture but differ in operational safeguards, with Fable 5.1 generally available and Mythos 5.1 restricted to trusted access programs for cybersecurity and life sciences research. Anthropic states that Fable 5.1 delivers higher performance than its predecessor across long-running technical tasks while reducing computational expenses by an estimated 25% for typical workloads. In practical evaluations conducted by the investment firm Millennium, the system identified the source of an intermittent internal crash that human engineers and earlier models failed to resolve over several years.
