Apple iPhone Duo Fails Durability Test

· Technology · MacRumors, Gadget Review

Apple's iPhone Duo failed a durability assessment conducted by JerryRigEverything. Despite holding an IP68 dust-resistance rating, the device allowed dust to enter the hinge, which compromised the magnets responsible for keeping the phone closed. A subsequent bend test caused a permanent green line to appear on the inner display, followed by a total loss of touch responsiveness. While the outer screen featuring Ceramic Shield 2 resisted scratches up to level 7 on the Mohs scale, the inner screen scratched at level 2. The tester noted that the inner screen's matte nano-texture coating helped mask minor surface marks.

Why it matters

This failure raises concerns about the long-term structural integrity of Apple's folding device for consumers who rely on high-durability hardware.
