Apple iPhone Prices Surge in India Amid Global Market Shifts
· Technology · Times of India, India Today, ABC News (AU)
Apple's latest iPhone models have launched in India with significant price increases, with the iPhone Duo starting at Rs 2,99,900 and the iPhone 18 Pro at Rs 1,64,900. Unlike previous years, when base prices remained stable, older models have also seen price hikes, with the iPhone 17 rising from Rs 82,900 to Rs 99,900. While US prices saw a flat $100 increase, the Indian market experienced much steeper hikes, often two to three times the global adjustment. Despite local manufacturing, the combination of cost factors and corporate pricing decisions has made the latest generation of devices substantially more expensive for Indian consumers.
Why it matters
The sharp price hikes mark a departure from the recent trend of stable pricing for new iPhones in India, potentially impacting demand among price-sensitive consumers.
