Apple Issues iOS 26.6.1 & macOS Tahoe 26.6.2 Patches for 30 Vulnerabilities
· Technology · MacRumors, AppleInsider, Forbes
Apple released iOS 26.6.1, iPadOS 26.6.1 and macOS Tahoe 26.6.2 on Monday, Aug 17, 2026, fixing nearly 30 security vulnerabilities. The update includes fixes for an audio leak vulnerability, an image‑based arbitrary code execution bug, three kernel flaws and multiple WebKit bugs that could corrupt memory or crash Safari. The security document lists 29 CVEs, 21 related to WebKit and nine attributed to OpenAI Codex Security. Apple also fixed a telephony flaw that could let a network attacker bypass IPSec and sniff traffic, and urged users to update promptly. Older‑version devices remain at risk, so Apple also offered iOS 18.7.10 and iPadOS 18.7.10 for those unable to run the newer releases; no macOS Sequoia or Sonoma updates were supplied. The patches can be installed through Settings > General > Software Update.
Why it matters
The security patches protect iPhone, iPad, and Mac users from potential data leakage or system compromise, and threaten devices still running older software. Users who do not update remain exposed to the 30 identified vulnerabilities.
