Apple Mandates Strict Age Requirements for Dating and AI Companion Apps

Apple is introducing new content descriptor questions in App Store Connect to enforce stricter age ratings for dating and relationship applications. Developers must now disclose whether their apps feature dating between real people or virtual companions involving sexual or romantic content. All applications classified as dating or relationship platforms will automatically receive a minimum age rating of 18+. Consequently, these apps will be hidden from users under 18 with parental restrictions and will require proof of adulthood for downloads. Developers must update their submissions by November 16, with full compliance mandated across all existing applications by January 12, 2027.
