Apple Wallet Driver's License Feature Expanding to Four More US States

Apple Wallet is expanding its driver's license and state ID feature to North Carolina, Oklahoma, Utah, and Virginia. North Carolina plans to launch a digital ID program starting with its own NC Wallet app in December, with Apple Wallet support following in early 2027. Code discovered within Apple's software confirms the upcoming additions for Oklahoma, Utah, and Virginia, though specific timelines for those states remain unannounced. The feature is already available in 14 states, including California and New Mexico, as well as Puerto Rico. TSA checkpoints at more than 250 U.S. airports accept digital IDs for domestic travel, though users must still carry physical identification because law enforcement and all businesses do not accept them.
