The Travancore Devaswom Board restricted Aravana prasadam sales to one tin per devotee during the pre-Mandala season, triggering widespread protests among pilgrims who consider the offering essential to their spiritual journey. The shortage stems from renovation and upgrade work at the Aravana production facility in Sannidhanam, which the TDB says caused the disruption. Devaswom Minister K Muraleedharan held the TDB accountable for scaling down production during peak pilgrimage season and said the government viewed the matter seriously. He stated he had spoken with TDB president K Jayakumar, who assured it would not happen again. The LDF opposition has faulted the government for failing to anticipate pilgrim footfall and manage the supply chain effectively.
