· India · The Hindu, NDTV

A joint operation by the Army and police at Satharban forest in Surankote, Poonch district on Tuesday unearthed a suspected terrorist hideout inside a natural cave, recovering an AK-47 rifle, a magazine, 30 rounds of ammunition, and six hand grenades. Officials stated the recovery followed reports of suspicious movement in the area. Separate search operations were underway in Udhampur and Kathua districts targeting higher reaches of Majalta and Billawar. Additionally, Army troops detected two rusted landmines near the border fence in Mendhar sector, which were later destroyed in a controlled explosion. Over a dozen landmines have been defused in the area over the past week. No arrests were made during the initial operation.
