· India · Hindustan Times, The Hindu, Bernama
Arunachal Pradesh police arrested three individuals in connection with a suspected inter-district child trafficking and exploitation network operating across the state. The suspects have been identified as Gumnya Kochung, Marta Ete, and Neha Gerory, who allegedly operated as facilitators or brokers. Authorities rescued 19 children, most under the age of eight with the youngest around three years old, from locations including Mechuka, Aalo, Pasighat, Naharlagun, Itanagar, and Longding. Investigators found that some children were engaged as domestic help and in hotel work after economically vulnerable families were approached with promises of better education and care. The case was registered at Namsai police station on August 17 following a complaint from the Child Welfare Committee, and a Special Investigation Team has been constituted to examine financial transactions, call records, and digital evidence.
